We're very happy with the end result and for the fact that Baby won't look like he's in prison after all. It was a tedious process and despite much grumbling and griping from both parties, we managed to swing this without actually killing each other. Luckily it's a very small room. Unluckily, it has a steeple ceiling, tricky little nooks, and an unlevel wall-meets-ceiling, so we had to get, uh, a little creative in our "leveling" process of the stripes. I told The Fella that Baby appreciates this awesome room and his handiwork slash patience. He eyed me squarely and said, "Baby doesn't give a shit, but I'm sure Mommy and Mommy's friends will appreciate the room." Ah, marriage!
I was going for a bold, modern treatment in a gender-neutral color palette of cool gray and bright white, but I think the wide stripes also ended up lending a bit of a fresh, nautical feeling, don't you think?
I'll be unveiling more of the room decor as it gets underway. Right now I'm busy trolling Etsy for all kinds of fabulous handmade and vintage finds. (For the baby. Of course.) Stay tuned!
