Baby Max, 6 weeks

Max turned 6 weeks on Wednesday. It was a momentous occasion for me, as well. The Fella was traveling for work and I was faced with taking care of the baby for 3 days, 2 nights. Scary stuff. All turned out just fine. Max got really good at holding up his head by himself for long periods, swiveling his head around, pushing his legs straight up off of me to "stand," and doing the Flying Superman. We lit a spicy cinnamon candle, looked at the lit up tree, and fell asleep watching NBC's Rockefeller Center Christmas special on tv. I feel like I learned so much about him in these few days where I had him all to myself, now that the dust has settled from the previous weeks. I dedicated lots of time trying to read his cues, understand what each of his cries meant, and how to soothe him. This is what I learned (I think):

Whimper = Overtired.
Squawk = Bored. Pay attention, Mom.
Bloodcurdling Scream = Gaseous / Impending Bowel Movement
Silent Cry = ?????
Pterodactyl = Hungry.
Air Stomping = Very hungry.

They say babies experience a growth spurt around 6 weeks. That would explain all the air stomping action.

Ain't the sleeping beast precious?
