Max and I both left Florida a few pounds heavier, with much-needed haircuts and some weird tan lines. The way my family keeps us well-fed and pampered, this was a true vacation in every sense of the word! I had 10 glorious (neurotic) dog-free days, and FurFur had a mini vaca from Baby. I didn't have to lift a finger once and I had built-in babysitters for Max. Which allowed me to escape for little chunks of time to visit with girlfriends, laze by the pool (I got tanned in less than 15 minutes!), and to have late night dinners out with my sisters, mom and aunt. I got to play with my beautiful niece. Max got to play with his beautiful cousin. We made it "rain pom poms." We were all together for my mom's birthday, which we celebrated all week long. I'd call this all pretty awesome, wouldn't you?
I learned some new things about Max on this trip:
1. He's a klepto. This is him running out of the shoe store wearing, and holding, unpurchased goods. (He really did NOT like being fitted for shoes.)
And this is him holding an orange toy train (from the Barnes & Noble train table) just minutes before he casually tosses it into my aunt's slightly opened purse on the floor.
2. He'll eat oatmeal and rice, but apparently only when other people make it. Jerk!
3. He's probably going to attend Mardi Gras when he's old enough, given his newfound attraction to beaded necklaces.
4. He's obsessed with airplanes, too, now. Add this to the list of "Anything With Wheels." This is him pointing to small jets he heard flying over my parents' home, every single time, which happened very frequently.
5. He doesn't mind looking like a mini Fresh Prince.
And a couple things about Max that I already knew, but really saw blossom while in Florida:
1. He's a performer!
2. And he's a performer! Did I say that already?
So I mentioned Max had a haircut. It was his very first haircut! Initially I liked it probably because I could finally see his beautiful forehead again. But the more I look at it, I miss his perfectly sideswept bangs and moppy fly-away curls that make him look like a cockatoo! The lady cut them too short and slightly uneven/choppy, and now it reminds me of an awkward 80s cut in front :(
Besides Max's hair, the only thing I'm regretting is not going out to see a movie in the theater while I had the chance.
The video is so cute
