With new beginnings comes new hair, right?

This was the last picture of Max taken before we went on our merry way to his second ever haircut. We know, he's way overdue. I mean, look at that mop. I don't even really blame people for still asking if he's a girl. (Now, Momma on the other hand – she could really use a cut, too!)
So it went something like this . . .
Snip, nonononoooo mama, wahhh, snip, CAR!!, snip snip.
Yep, that pretty much sums it up. Thank goodness for cartoons and cars! I'll gladly dish out the $15 for a Cartoon Cut instead of having to do this at home myself. And doesn't he look like a proper, very distinguished man-child?
But oh BOY, do I miss his sideswept bangs and moppy curls in back! Exactly how I felt after we got his hair cut for the first time at 16 months. (Back then, he was a lot less willful.)
Afterwards, we went to the mall for new shoes and lunch. In Starbucks. Starbucks, MALL – now I know I'm really becoming a suburbanite. By the way, Max was wearing his bib long before lunchtime. It's his latest "thing," he insists on wearing a bib anytime we leave the house. It's kinda cute, kinda weird, and when I find myself wanting to say no, I remind myself, what's the big deal?
And before leaving the mall, had to give these oversized chess pieces – namely the horsies – a hug and a kiss. Or in Max's case, a lick. He's sweet like that to animals. So cute, and yet so gross.
Hey, sometimes you just gotta lick.

(Note: It's pure coincidence that we're dressed in matching denim-on-denim.)
