Max turns 2!

We celebrated the Big 2 birthday on Saturday. Though we didn't have a big party, I thought the occasion had just the right amount of pomp and circumstance, and surely he knew it was a special day and felt special, too. It was filled with red balloons, his favorite bedtime story coming to life in the form of a musical stage production, and birthday cake. Yeap, lots of cake. Why, even our stuffed animal Baby FurFur got some. (More birthday details coming soon.)

But for now, my little baby is now a real big boy. There have been quite a number of milestones over the past year from baby to toddler: We saw him toddle along for awhile cautiously, but now he runs! We taught him how to baby-sign the word for "Milk" but now he can say it! We witnessed him beginning to just babble slightly to now speaking two to three word thoughts and answering our questions! We used to carry him down the stairs, but now he walks down unassisted! We are helping him learn to count, and he can do it at least up to two - after that he goes back to one (though he does occasionally know that 10 comes after 9). And let's not even talk about how he gives us firm instructions to do things like "Momma come," "Dadda come," "FurFur come" and invites each of us to "Sit, sit" with him at dinnertime while gesturing towards the other chair. That boy, he's so polite. The best is when we're driving, and he sees the traffic lights in his mirror as he rear faces - he instructs us to "Go!" at the green and "Stop!" at the red. (More often than not, it's "GO!" even during a red light.) That boy!! I just love him.
