Despite some sad news, the weekend was nice and kicked off with a lunch on Friday with two girlfriends. We caught up over authentic Austrian food at Julius Meinl, which I last went when I was pregnant and the weather was warm. Their spaetzle and fresh juices are yum, I really shouldn't let so much time pass before the next visit.
Saturday included a surprise Valentine's "date night" from The Fella––massages at a wonderful day spa in a European-style townhouse in the Gold Coast, then appetizers at a favorite downtown resto. Of course, all this was only possible with the help of our good friends, who babysat Max for firstday few hours away from us!! (It was more anxiety-inducing for me, Max was just fine.)
And, finally, the weekend concluded with an awesome brunch at Tweet in the Rogers Park neighborhood with some other good friends and their son. I wish I had remembered my camera's memory card, because the place was really something to see––very hipster with crazy painted walls, framed photos, and the best part, when the owner announced by mic, "It is 11am, the bar is now open!"
