We ventured outside the ski resort one day to check out Big Sky's "downtown." You take this small shuttle on a rickety, 30-minute ride from the hotel at the top of the mountain down to Meadow Village. There's only two directions you can tell the bus driver to go: "up the mountain" or "down the mountain." They'll make a few stops along the way at condos, the local sleigh ride joint, and then finally, Meadow Village. The village consists of a general store, postal office, church, a bar and grill restaurant, and a smattering of shops and boutiques.
Although the "downtown" was small (as expected), the shops were blushing with character and true Montanan charm! Of particular note, how spectacular is that antler coffee table we stumbled upon at this amazing home furniture shop, Big Sky Furniture, yours for only $1,100. In our typical bad fashion of impulse-buying expensive rugs*, we almost returned to Chicago with a cowhide except we just couldn't agree on which one! And I'll admit, it took some mighty willpower for me to walk away from that leather-fringed designer pillow embellished with recycled Louis Vuitton leather! Love!

*We once went to brunch with friends but came home with a Pakistani silk rug from the shop next door. Another time we went to Turkey and brought back a silk rug to the States. You see what I mean? We've got issues!
