When we weren't in South Beach, we were spending time in my hometown, a nice suburb outside of Fort Lauderdale. It has nice schools, nice restaurants, nice paved streets and nice, manicured lawns. I love going back home and being with my family. Even though I swear up and down to never live in suburbia, I know this is inevitable and coming soon to a theater near me. And I'll admit, after two weeks of not having to "wear baby" in the suburbs, this is a plus––hauling the stroller in and out of the trunk of the car (instead of up and down stairs) is a million times easier!
That said, it felt strangely foreign to stroll the baby down the cul-de-sac instead of my city street––oddly enough, I missed all the activity, dogs, kids, and cars! And amidst all this quiet, we had plenty of quality time for laid-back moments with the family and with old friends––family dinners in and out, play dates, dinners with girl friends, shopping at the mall (6% sales tax, people, yea!), sitting on Spanish-style patios and barbecuing out back. Thank you, Mom and Dad, for always providing a wonderful time. It's true what they say, you can always go home!
