I usually hover over Baby Max for fear of the dog stepping on him. I think the earliest I ever put him on the floor was when he was around 3 months. I resisted the idea of buying a playpen or a gate because I wanted the two to learn how to naturally coexist as early on as possible.
FurFur has recently come to accept him––dare I even say, like??––but not before she went through the gamut of emotions that comes with bringing home a constantly crying thing: first, hyper-excitement/curiosity, which quickly turned into depression, then annoyance, to utter disinterest. It wasn't until he was around 3 months and Max began taking notice of the world around him, including FurFur, that she started to take interest in him again! Whew, thank god!
I finally feel like FurFur's learning how to be careful around the baby, and is, for the most part anyway, starting to get the concept of boundaries when he's on the floor. Instead of Mommy hovering over Max as per usual, this little photo shoot gave Max and FurFur the chance to be a bit independent––Max branched out and gently explored FurFur's ears and paws, and she leaned in to gently nuzzle him. It showed me that he and FurFur can sit side by side, after all :)
And here are a few more adorable shots of Max––of course, I think everything about him is awww-dorable! (Pardon me here, I was playing with various manual settings to experiment with different lighting effects.)
Cute pictures of FurFur and Max!
