I
interrupt regularly scheduled posts about our New York City trip with my
family for breaking news: Baby Maxwell started solids this weekend!
Okay, he didn't get anything too exciting––just bland rice cereal mixed with milk––but nevertheless, Max had his first taste of something other than straight-up boobie milk*, yea!
Max has been interested in food for some months now, very fascinated by whatever I'm eating. Lately he had begun trying to swipe my fork or spoon out of my hands, or grab my plate if I sat too close to him while eating. These are signs that he would be a pretty good eater, I hoped.
So I kinda wanted to start with purees of real food (like this post describes) instead of rice cereal since Max was already 6 months 2 weeks, but because my pediatrician had recommended beginning with the cereal according to tradition, I went along with it. On Sunday morning Max happened to be hanging out happily in his swing seat in the kitchen, so I decided, well, this is the right moment to experiment (aside from the fact that we didn't have our high chair assembled and out of the box yet, details details, people!).
This is Baby Max, after his first attempt at rice cereal! Look at those big eyes!!

And here are a couple more cute pics from Day 2 of solids––this time, in his high chair!

* These days, in our household, milk is only referred to as "boobie milk." In fact, I think this might be Max's first words because he lights up whenever we say it.
Looks like he likes the rice cereal! Yeah!
