It seems that I reserve this sparkly top for special occasions (like for this and this), and Mother's Day was no exception. I wore it to a relaxed dinner and then to walk the dog. I tend to wear less precious materials these days, but can't resist donning this colorful number every once in awhile. Sparkles make me happy :)
On another note, I got new hair two weeks ago! The best part was that this awesome one-length, above the shoulder bob was completely free (minus the tip, of course) through a salon apprentice program I found via this website. It lets you search your city for free hair services offered by stylists-in-training (often at top-tier salons!) who need to complete specific skills for certification. You're a hair model. I got mine done at a Michael Anthony Aveda salon in Bucktown, where I received:
- a shampoo
- hair cut and style
- fringe trim (fancy word for "bangs")
- blowout
- flat iron
- a neck, shoulder and scalp massage
- an exfoliating and moisturizing hand massage treatment
- and lip stain!
And where was Maxwell during all this? Luckily, The Fella had a random Thursday off to stay at home with him while Mommy got pampered. When I came home, Max took notice of the new hair, which by the way, is the perfect dangling length for curious, little baby fingers! Oh, and I'm not above looking up the actual retail prices . . . it would have totaled $132!
With tip, it easily could have added up to $150. Pricey, yes, but now I totally get why women spend so much on salons.
You leave with fancy hair and walk with a bit of swagger. With all this hypothetical money saved, I really should go shopping now!
I wore blouse Topshop, jeans Bebe, shoes by Nickel, name bracelet from a SoHo street vendor, quartz and copper bracelet Monsieur Pamplemousse.
