Maya's Clothing Challenge

I have a really terrible addiction.

It's called fashion. And chatting while at work.

The result of these said vices is my girlfriend Maya challenging me to a Clothing Count, inspired by all the bloggers who have recently committed to Kendi Everyday's "30 for 30 Remix Clothing Challenge". There are 337 of them! Clearly, this is an important trending topic. I will not be one of Kendi's participants, as one 30 for 30 project at a time is more than enough for me! Although, when Maya asked this question, I was scared intrigued to know Exactly How Many Clothing Items I Own. And so I set out to learn that my closet has...

46 Short-sleeve Tops/Tanks
29 Dresses
25 Jackets/Cardigans/Vests
25 Pants/Jeans
22 Skirts
18 Long-sleeve Tops
16 Blouses/Button Downs
15 Blazers
12 Coats/Trenches
12 Sweaters
5 Shorts
{ And a paaaartridge in a peeeear tree! }

Yes, that's a grand total of 225 items!

But don't judge just yet!

Upon further analysis, it makes perfect rational sense. I hail from a 365-day, year-round hot climate necessitating the need for light, casual wear (lots of it!). After 26 years of living in South Florida – of which, I still wear quite a bit of clothing that I had when I was 18, believe it or not – you can see how easy it is for me to amass a ridiculous number of short-sleeve tops and tanks, dresses, and skirts. Plus, quite a bit of my wardrobe is gifted. The majority of pants, long-sleeve tops, blouses, and blazers was acquired over the last three years of living in Chicago, and is corrollary to the seasonal weather here which requires the appropriate layering pieces for multiple fickle seasons... hence the ever-burgeoning closet...

Is what I like to tell myself.
