The weekend, succinctly { + kicking off 2012 }

We had an "East Coast New Year," kissing at New York's midnight along with Times Square revelers and Dick Clark and his wife. That's good enough for me! This new mama just couldn't make it to real midnight in the Midwest, an hour behind. So we rung in 2012 with our dear friends, eating a hearty lamb ragu, lemon-orange glazed carrots, homemade sugar cookies in odd shapes––acorns, fish, squirrels, the Hancock Building––truffles and chocolate cake! Max was awake for the early part of the evening, when colourful ribbons were aswirl and party hats ready to be donned!

On the resolutions side, I don't usually do these on a "formal" level. However, this year, I will try my best to curate and maintain a closet of classic, structured pieces, ones that can grow with me over time. I spent the last two days editing my closet and creating a "Donate" pile. I'm a definite hoarder. I own, and often still wear, a considerable amount of things going back 10 years. But, in the spirit of the new year, it's time to let go and start anew, right? (Does anyone else have a bit of a hard time letting go of their old clubby stuff??)

Also, I've found myself constantly hungry and eating all the time due to nursing Baby Max. It's tricky making sure to fill yourself with nutritious foods, so this year I will try my best to maintain healthy eating habits and do something I did while pregnant––for every bad food, eat something good! (But sometimes you just want a spoon of Nutella and that's okay!)

Baby Max has loftier resolutions:
- Continue to sleep through the night (he started sleeping through the night for 10-11 hours on December 29––keep it up, Max!!!).
- Keep the shrieking to a minimum when Daddy gives him a bottle.
- Like Tummy Time.
- Don't do "The Strongman" while going down stairs (reference this video at :19-25 seconds).

Do you make resolutions? Happy new year!!
