A Chicago state of mind

This morning (while getting ready to The Today Show, of course) I heard Jay-Z and Alicia Key's "Empire State of Mind" straining from the tv as weatherman Al Roker announced today's Pick City of the Day, which just so happened to be New York City.

But for once, I would have to wholeheartedly disagree with this. It should be Chicago, because for some inexplicable reason the weather gods have decided to favor us with glorious springtime temps in the low 70s and sunshine all week long! In the middle of November! This is totally blogworthy. Hey, I'm not complaining because this means I get to dash around in one of my favorite trenches and a tulip skirt with open-toe heels for just a touch longer...

 Outfit, head to toe:
Plaid Trench, Modcloth.com
Cream top with beading detail, Barneys New York, circa 1996 (I told you I hang
on to a lot of old clothing!)
Navy tulip skirt, Modcloth.com
Skinny red leather belt, H&M
Camel suede open-toe heels, gifted Manolo Blahniks

I'm soaking up this blissful weather here at home, and for right now, I'm in a Chicago state of mind. Still though, there couldn't be a more perfect song to ever pop up on the tv or radio, the day before I hit the Big Apple!
