The weekend, succinctly

Mouth Party, 2nd installment (see photos from the first here), took place last weekend. On short notice (three days to be exact, but who's counting!), it ended up being our turn to plan this month's. Sadly I wasn't able to pull together everything needed in order to host a proper dinner party, so #16 will just have to wait. In the meantime, I put on my Internet-savvy thinking cap––and pulled together a collection of the hottest "Must Try!" restos in Chicago. Top considerations included The Purple Pig, Longman & Eagle (they also have nightly lodging available upstairs!), and Maude's Liquor Bar.

We finally settled on Bruna's*, a very old Italian restaurant from 1933. It's tucked on a quaint street considered "The Heart of Italy" in Chicago. The owner is from Siena in Tuscany, Italy. The food is authentic, warm and hearty. The servers are of the old Italian kind. The ambiance is loud and dimly lit. That's all you need to know. NOW, GO! :o)

Besides Mouth Party, it was also Super Bowl weekend, and we sprawled out on our couch to watch the game, meatballs on a stick and all. The best part for me is the Half Time Show. I'm really surprised to find so much internet chatter of people hating on the show! As far as I am concerned, Black Eye Peas are way more "of this decade" and crowd-energizing than the Paul McCartney half-time show a few years back.

  1. Owen lurved the half-time show. He made Bob rewind at least 2 or 3 times so he could dance.

    Nice pics, making me hungry!

  2. FurFur also *lurved* the show. She danced with us, too. What can I say, we have a couple of pop divas and princes!
