Hot tub time machine cabin trip, part 1

It was an awesome extended weekend with friends from California, North Carolina, New York, and Chicago, reuniting for the first ever "hot-tub-time-machine-camping-moose-dressing-book-club-cake-baking-football-watching-leave-your-sorry-ass-condo-association-behind-you-betcha-extravaganza". (For brevity's sake, we'll just call this the "Hot Tub Time Machine Cabin Trip".)

In reality, it wasn't a cabin or as rustic as I make it out to be. It was actually a beautiful three-tiered lake house on Lauderdale Lakes in Wisconsin, but the joke is that most of us had just seen Hot Tub Time Machine, the movie, when we began planning this trip and thought it would be funny to give it an endearing name. It grew from that to include many other expectations, including the revival of Book Club, cake-baking for a triple birthday, and an intense day of college football game-watching.

There were three glorious days of unseasonably warm temps spent lazily lounging either on an adirondack overlooking the lake or a plush wicker chair in the upper level sundeck, reconnecting with friends both near and far. In between pure relaxation and makeup-free days, there was kayaking and roasting of s'mores, running around in floppy hats, stops at Culver's and the liquor store, nonstop SLR picture-taking, late-night board game frenzy and, of course, Hot Tub Time Machine!

{ mushroom farm, as seen when driving into Wisconsin }
{ famous ButterBurgers at Culver's }
{ stocking up at Frank's County Market }
{ front view + winding path }
{ lake view }
{ dockside + blue waters }
{ serene sundeck }
{ living room + sweeping window view, main level }
{ fully-equipped kitchen, the scene of many a creative cooking }
{ one of five sleeping areas, upper level }

The house was well-appointed and charmingly decorated with sweet, little nods to lakeside bliss.

{ yes, please! }
{ cozy tartan + natural wood }

Will post more pix of the entire gang and our weekend fun once the SLR pros process and share their photos. They had it covered all weekend so I could relax.

I couldn't have asked for anything more: awesome friends, total relaxation, and crazy fun. Except for maybe a hot tub and a time machine.
