Urban/vintage photo shoot: Part 1

You know how some couples do professional engagement photos to celebrate new beginnings? When we first got engaged almost five years ago, The Fella and I had thought it unnecessary to spend even more money on this when we had a big wedding to plan (and not to mention, that it seemed somewhat cheesy). But lately I've been feeling a bit regretful that we didn't visually capture those moments when we were both so young and fresh-faced. So, I recently had the idea to do an "Urban/Vintage Anniversary" photo shoot, celebrating our 3.5 years of marriage, a.k.a. We made it this far! It was definitely no easy feat, sometimes, and it certainly requires day-to-day attention to nurture the relationship.

We enlisted our friend, Haseeb, who generously offered his creative eye and time to shoot us last weekend. He's a lawyer by day, hobbyist photographer by night, and every time I see his photos of people, I wish I, too, had the talent to capture fleeting emotions in such artistic light!

The inspiration behind the shoot was to show a peek of our life together in Chicago, in our favorite surroundings. The first part of the shoot was centered around our neighborhood and in Wicker Park. I  wanted to shoot us in our own element and natural environment – at home and at the park across the street with FurFur. Playing up the quasi-grungy/artsy bohemian vibe that is Wicker Park, I styled us in playful and hip vintage-inspired looks.
