The weekend, succinctly

I spent a long weekend rejuvenating after an even longer week battling a bad cold, but plugging away dutifully at work, nevertheless.

There was a little trip to Costco (by little, I use this term very loosely) under our neighbors' guest pass to restock our fridge after the past weekend away in Wisconsin – our first time to Costco's ever in 5 years when I used to tag along on my mom's membership back home. The Fella and I were so giddy and utterly overwhelmed by all the STUFF we could buy at a great value just at our fingertips!

Sadly, our friends will probably never invite us back. They patiently waited while we continued to load up our cart to the brim with bags of frozen meatballs and various jars of pickled goods and the like. I mean, did we really need a 36-pack of Mott's applesauce or 15 boxes of instant Mac 'n Cheese or 12 Chapsticks? All in all, it was a majorly ridiculous expensive trip, considering I had intended to go just for a special multi-vitamin that tastes like Gummy Bears available only at Costco, but left with almost $450 in other STUFF. On the upside, we won't have to grocery shop for another 5 months.

But, at least the Costco overload resulted in a productive (and tasty) weekend cooking marathon – Spaghetti with Butter and Onion Tomato Sauce, Lamb Chops with Sorrel Sauce, Baked Crusted Tilapia, Raw Kale Salad, Stuffed Squash Blossoms, and Basil Pesto.
