Home from Maui and back to reality...

This trip to Maui was incredible and also one of paradoxes: it rained a lot in Paradise and I worked a lot (as well as worked out, really!), three things that never happen for me while on a resort vacation. In some ways, it was a lot like having a second honeymoon, only more relaxing and romantic than hopping around the Mediterranean if you can imagine that. Relaxing, well, if you don't count the muddy escapades on the Road to Hana, my sickness at sea kayaking, a wild helicopter ride (wild in my head, anyway), and the yelling that ensued when dinner plans attempted by The Fella went awry. More on all these later!

In between all that and work-shmerk (a conference for Fella and my new gig), there were romantic walks along the cliffs by the sea, lazy midnight naps in private cabanas oceanside, scenic drives along winding roads, adventures exploring the most lovely and diverse of islands, and lots and lots of splendid Hawaiian meals, which mostly consisted of the freshest seafood imaginable caught that day. Thanks for the lovely trip slash second honeymoon, Fella!

As we prepared to leave the island, I begrudgingly put on the outfit I arrived in with great disdain: skinny jeans and suede boots still covered with traces of dried snow. After living in flowy maxi dresses and shorts for the past week, it was difficult returning back to standard Chicago attire. But, as the flight attendant on our departing flight dryly said, Just to prove to you that you are in fact headed back to reality, it's 32 degrees and snowing in Chicago. Thank you for that.

I'll be busy playing catch-up at work after a week away, but stay tuned for more scenes from Maui! At least I'm back with a tan, b*tches! :o)
