Taking a pause this afternoon

Lingered on Michigan Ave. after a client meeting this afternoon, instead of returning to the office right away. Shhh. It'll be our little secret.

You have to give me some credit, though. I resisted the urge to stroll down Michigan Ave. for some serious shopping, and instead, decided to cool down with a Starbucks Caramel Apple Cider, chilled. This is especially delish when consumed in its original menu state – hot, like say, in the fall or winter, but it was alright chilled.

So, from my little corner of the Starbucks patio, I did some serious people-watching instead. I must have seen at least a dozen Asian tourists stop to take pix in front of the same giant flowerpot. It's not just a stereotype, folks. I can say this, I'm Asian.

{ My lovely people-watching corner }

When I finally finished my cider, gabbed with everyone on my speed-dial list, and could find no other reason to linger, I begrudgingly headed back to the office. It's a good thing, too, I just beat a monstrous storm. Like, by the hair of my chinny-chin-chin. How can the weather take such a turn for the worst in a mere matter of 10 minutes? It went from this...

To this...

{ I braved a quick trip outside to snap a photo of the ominous sky, then shrieked like a little girl
when wind gusts got angry and STUFF started flying around.
NOTE: That's not the moon in the distance, it's a rain spot. }

I later heard on the evening news that winds were recorded at 70mph. This Floridian girl says that's almost hurricane strength! Pretty sure that this is going to be the general weather trend all weekend. Sad.
