Memory lane: celebrating three years

Today is my three year wedding anniversary. WOW-za. They say the "Three Year Itch" is the new seven in this day, so it REALLY blows my mind no matter how many times I think about it.

And technically speaking, it's been an intimate 8 long years of togetherness with another being by your side, if you count the five for which we were dating and engaged!

Last year we were fortunate to be back home in South Florida on our two year anniversary. I like to call it "Taking a Walk Down Memory Lane Weekend" because we certainly packed it in catching up with family and friends: visiting old haunts, partyin' it up in our old stomping grounds, and creating new memories. It felt like everything had changed, and yet it seemed like we had never left. There was a number of fun times on this trip, but here are some of my favorites:

A Walk Down Memory Lane begins in South Beach – We never made it out to Tap Tap Haitian Restaurant when we lived in Miami, so this time around, I made it a point to cross it off my bucket list of things to do, places to go. Check! Good friends, good food and drinks all around!

The Mondrian Hotel, South Beach – M introduced us to an uh-MAZ-ing slash wildly Miami hotel on the Beach that wasn't around when we lived there. It even has a wall-to-wall "vending machine" that offers toothbrushes, 24k gold bling, oceanfront penthouses, $90,000 Corvettes and Bentleys. '65 Cadillac, anyone?

Silver Pond Restaurant with the family – Indulging in the most authentic Hong Kong style Chinese food you'll ever experience outside of Asia!

A Walk Down Memory Lane continues on to my old digs in Coral Gables, the City Beautiful. I used to live in a National Historic Register property (translation: charming but dilapidated). It used to be Spanish style pink though :(

Revisiting my old dormitory all four years at the University of Miami – I can honestly say I loved campus living! Then, having a Cuban sandwich lunch with my parents outside the University Center, which sure has gussied itself up over the years – canopied swing patio sets now dot the lakefront!

Continuing on to Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in Coral Gables, the exact spot where we married two years before. Revisiting it on this day was a really special occasion.

Having anniversary dinner at Red Fish Grill, a romantic, bayfront restaurant in Matheson Hammock Park. This is where we were intending to have our wedding rehearsal dinner, but it was booked solid, so instead we ended up at a most delicious, intimate Greek restaurant in the Gables.

Mmmmm... do I smell an "Awesome Food" blog post in near the future??

Exiting the city – farewell for now, Miami!

I'm just sorry the trip wasn't long enough for me to revisit ALL my favorite places and to see everyone.
If you ask me what I have learned about marriage so far, I still couldn't tell ya! Check back in another three years...

P.S. Today is also FurFur's birthday! Well, maybe not really. Based on the loose estimation of her age by the Animal Welfare Shelter folks when we adopted her, I have deduced that FurFur was born sometime in April. So why not celebrate it also on our anniversary, April 14th? :P
