Sweet tooth fairy

Spring is here, and to welcome it, I surprised The Fella with a trip to a Spring Pastry Market today. Yes, that's what I said! I opened up the Weekend Edition of RedEye (bless this!), and saw that a pop-up pastry fair concept for lovers of sweets was being held at the Logan Square Kitchen, a "sustainable contract kitchen" that allows food entrepreneurs access to a licensed commercial kitchen. (Why didn't I come up with such an effin' green idea?)

Lavender and honey macaroon. Pecan cinnamon crumble cake. Vegan oatmeal cranberry crisp. Glazed sugar cookie. Almond honey toffee. Citrus truffle. Fig and black tea jam. Lavender vanilla bean ice cream... HELLO, LOVER!

I adore Chicago! It's ironic that the only thing we ended up taking away from a
Pastry Market was a perfectly crusty loaf of Spicy Cheddar Bread baked in earthenware...mmm...
