Blue marbles

{ blue marble. I'm quite proud of this shot, taken with my point-and-shoot. }

My boss came back yesterday from a week-long trip in seclusion (ok, not really, but she was being hush-hush about it all, and was unplugged the entire time). Anyhoo, she returned bearing these tiny, blue marbles, which she gave to each of us. You're supposed to do something good for the planet, and then pass it along to a stranger as a random act of ocean kindness within 24 hours. The idea is to keep things moving by spreading the message, making this a worldwide viral effort. Apparently, tens of thousands of marbles have reached hundreds of thousands of people, globally!

It's a pretty neat concept to get people thinking about the world we live in, and how we can make it better. We should be doing this anyway, everyday. Not just on Earth Day, or when we receive tiny, blue marbles. This New Year's, I set a goal to be more environmentally-friendly, forging ahead with a personal Paperwork Reduction Project.

Now, I'm having a bit of a selfish moment holding onto the tiny, blue marble for longer than 24 hours. I really like the size, and the cold, smooth feel of rolling it in the palm of my hand. It's perfect for when I'm deep in thought or trying to blow out blazin' marketing fires. I'll give it up soon, promise! It's probably bad karma if you don't.
