Prom night

I apologize for taking so long to post pix of Friday night's epic Prom*. I was quasi-comatose for nearly 24 hours afterwards.

So, rewind to Friday night:

A takes it a step further, calling it "Prom slash Reclaim Your Youth Night". He's decided this means we're starting the fête at 6 p.m. and partying it up until 6 a.m. or something far too young and wild like that. But here goes...

{ 6:00 p.m. My favorite pic of the night happens to be the very first. Michigan Ave., yea! }

I initially wanted to experiment with a Rocker-Ballerina look: think trendy "feet-in-cages" heels, statement necklace, bright red lipstick, and black painted nails. I quickly realized I couldn't pull off this look. So instead, I went for Classic Ballerina, a throwback to my dancing days, with a simple ballet-pink, sparkly headband, delicate diamond chain, and glittery heels. Much better.

{ The three ladies }

{ Something yummy during Cocktail Hour at the Allerton Hotel }

{ The three men }

I was asked by a few people if this is my Sex and the City look, which I of course took as a compliment, thankyouverymuch!

{ The Fella and I at Prom* }

{ 7:30 p.m. Sitting down to dinner and realizing that my own husband did not RSVP me as an individual, unlike all the other husbands }

You *always* order the Beef at these types of events. It's the safe choice to get something tasty and not poorly cooked. We even had a 10 minute discussion about this, and there were devious thoughts by some to switch with someone else's Beef-colored sticker. I admit that I goaded them on.

{ L & A at dinner. L looks like an angel with the sunlight fading behind her }

{ A & J rallied tonight. It was hard leaving their newborn son at home for only like the second time yet, but it had to be done. }

{ 9:00 p.m. There was entertainment. And by entertainment, I mean HI-larious videos filmed by the Senior Residents, integrating weird medical humor that only Senior Residents would find funny and that Plus Ones would roll their eyes at. The films parodied everything from ER and SATC. I heard there were some cut films, like Brokeback Endoscopy, which I am hoping will circulate the likes of YouTube soon. }

{ 10:00 p.m. K & J having a very intense conversation. I wonder if J is describing the cut film, Brokeback Endoscopy, that he starred in. }

{ 10:30 p.m. There was dancing. Or what resembled dancing, at least. Oh, medical residents! }

{ Dance party with L & Lisa, of the Shiny Hair. I'm pretty sure this was to Nelly's song circa 2002, "It's Getting Hot in Her(e), So Take Off All Your Clothes" - WAIT, where's Joe Walsh when you need someone to take off his clothes?! Yes, this has actually happened before. In public. }

{ I heart this pic! }

{ 12:00 a.m. I'm ready to turn into a pumpkin }

{ 12:30 a.m. There was an after-party. Which one of these shady men got us into LaSalle Power Co.ahead of the massive line by bribing the bouncer with $150 bucks (really, it was only $80, but apparently everyone knows bouncers don't count the cash on the spot) to let in 30 people supposedly in a VIP wedding party? }

{ 2:00 a.m. Demonstrably so, sitting down in a club is our idea of finishing out Reclaim Your Youth Night. At least we closed out the place. }

{ 2:40 a.m. Reclaim Your Youth Night wouldn't be complete without a trip to the Taco/Burrito Express #3 for unbelievably uh-MAZ-ing beer-battered french fries made to order }

{ 3:00 a.m. We are so fortunate to have such great neighbors who took care of FurFur's late night shift so that we could Reclaim Our Youth. }

And so, that's how I was a "guest" at this event, how L sat on a very pregnant woman (don't ask, you had to be there), and how we saw the Department Chair "strip down" to Pour Some Sugar on Me in a film. We didn't quite make it to 6 a.m. in our old age, but all in all, it was a wonderful night to celebrate the bittersweet close of three solid years and good friends – or as I like to call it, the end of an era. At least now we'll have fabulous weekend places to get away to, like Durham and Pittsburgh!
