Etsy wonder

I'm absolutely in love with Etsy. It's like the coolest thing since sliced bread, pretty much.

I realize it's not a new thing. This online community – whose vision is to build a new economy and present a better choice through buying, selling and living handmade – has been around at least five years, although I just now discovered the wonders of it.

I turned to Etsy for the first time when searching for the perfect gifts for some friends who were moving, and have since found more for birthdays, upcoming holidays, and "just because". I love the idea of giving handmade, DIY gifts because they feel more thoughtful, more unique than a mass-produced item you picked up at a big store. (Although I won't complain if you were to give me a gift the traditional way!)

And of course, in my obsessive online browsing for The Perfect Gifts, it was inevitable that I would find a little special something for myself!

{ The Red Shoes, a vintage locket }

The vintage locket comes on a long chain, so I can wear it close to my heart. There are the most delicate, little bows (swoon!) etched into the petite shoes, reminding me of my old ballet slippers which I've long retired.

{ a free gift was included! }

But what is it???

I'm taking suggestions. So far, there's been a range of ideas, everything from an oversized cocktail ring, blingin' charm for a dog collar, bachelorette party favor, spare keyring...

I'm gonna go with something simpler, an interesting pendant for a long necklace.
