The weekend, succinctly

The weekend was random, a strange mish-mash of stuff.

There was a 30th work anniversary/birthday party for The Fella's colleague at Trader Todd's. It's an odd place, indeed – a Key West-style bar with karaoke in the heart of Lakeview, Chicago?

An insurance physical the morning after, a poorly timed move on our part, really. Because of it, we couldn't fully take advantage of the free food and drinks at Trader Todd's, or go out after to another bar with other friends. All these grown-up things really get in the way of fun.

A little stoop-sitting with FurFur to bask in the slightly cooled-down weather (80-something degrees).

And, I scored a giant box of sweet red bell peppers at Stanley's, the awesome produce market down the street, for – wait for it! – five dollars! I couldn't believe my luck. There must have been at least 30 to 40 giant peppers... guess I know what we're eating this week!

I don't know exactly what I'm going to do with them all, but so far I've made stuffed peppers on the suggestion of Leslee, cappellini with red pepper tomato sauce, and red pepper and white bean dip. This only made a small dent in the supply, though. The rest I chopped up, portioned, and threw in the freezer to use in quick weeknight cooking. Any other ideas?
