Good eats + family

Visitors come to town, and that automatically means we eat out and drink more elaborately, as we entertain and show off our fair city. James was here this weekend on a medical conference, minus Julie and baby J, unfortunately, but we still had a good time eating our way through Chicago!

David Burke's Primehouse...

{ sharing a chateaubriande for two – we saved the bone for FurFur }
{ nibbling on tempura green beans and onion rings;
wearing a lovely, vintage Giorgio Armani scarf from my sister! }
 { The Fella's perfectly done lamb entree }
{ "Kickin' Donuts" – fill your own with salted caramel, vanilla, and apple jelly! }
{ In typical doctors' humor, when The Fella's filling leaked out from the other end, he exclaimed,
"Oh no! It's hemorrhaging!" And all the doctors at the table laughed hysterically. }
{ sorbets: mojito, salted caramel, angry mango }

Filippo's, wonderfully authentic Italian, following a mind-blowing Inception, the movie.

{ trying to decide on a wine }
{ a table with a window view }

The Violet Hour, its decor cues taken from old English clubs and French salons pared with modern mixology...
