OOTD: (Almost) head-to-toe black

Wearing head-to-toe black today, with the exception of a few spots of color (i.e. the scarf, belt and booties!) to keep me from looking like a total goth or tortured artist, maybe. While I just couldn't commit, I have been inspired by the slew of fashion bloggers who are part of Kendi Everyday's 30 for 30 Remix Challenge, with the premise being to reinvent what's already in your closet in a new way. So, from my closet I dug up this relic of a black skirt circa 1998, back when long skirts were really in, and has never been worn since. If that's not "using what's already in your closet", then I don't know what is! I got it on major clearance at Macy's in Herald Square over a decade ago for, like, 15 bucks. Which reminds me, another thing I heart so much about New York is that you can get away with walking around wearing all black, at 9am or 9pm. Not so much here in Chicago.
