As I mentioned, last weekend The Fella and I popped over to Christkindl, a traditional German market right here in Daley Plaza in Chicago! It's set up to look like a picturesque little European village with many vendors actually from other countries. It's become our tradition every year to pick up a special ornament to remember each year that we've been living in this city. Usually by the time we get around to the market, it's cold and snowy. We warm up with Gluhwein, hot mulled wine, and nibble on freshly toasted coconut and amaretto nuts of all kinds. This year, however, it was "warm-ish" and we arrived too close to closing time, so we missed out on our usual stroll through the market, leisurely admiring Polish ornaments, German hand-carved wooden Nutcrackers, and Austrian crystal. Guess this means we'll have to go back!
