OOTD: Blues + grays, tie-dye flashback

Me thinks tie-dye is back in, kids.

This is the new silk blouse I scored at a pretty decent Black Friday sale. I love the watery effect of the blues and grays together, and the curved "S-shaped" ruffle down the front. It's not the first tie-dyesque print I've spotted in stores recently. It's not common still, but I like to think we're on the cusp of a "new" trend, and I'm spearheading things. When my mom and I were shopping in Macy's Herald Square in New York City this November, I found a fluttery, beautiful tie-dyesque confection of a dress in peach and olive. Yes, I really did say "beautiful" and "tie-dye" together in a sentence. But you'll just have to wait and see because it's my Christmas gift!*

And check out the platform boots. I feel like a gargantuan in these Bad Boys. They're short boots with a 3-inch wedge, which really make me look like a Glamazon compared to normal. I dug these out from the depths of the guest closet (see how little they've been worn if they've been relegated to the spare bedroom???). The boots were a Christmas gift from my aunt in 2006, the year before we were planning to move to Chicago. When I asked for them, I had no idea how difficult it would be to trek around town in heels in the snow and ice. Clearly, I must have lost my head when I decided to bring them back into play this morning. It's one thing to slide around on ice in low, flat boots than it is in platform boots. It's also a whole other ball game when you're trying to run to catch a bus in said platforms. On. The. Ice. And now I remember why again they're going back into the guest closet, thankyouverymuch.

Outfit of the Day:
Silk scarf, Thailand
Silk blouse, United Colors of Benetton
Black layering top, Uniqlo
Chargoal gray cropped pants, somewhere in Miami circa 2002
Boots, gifted, Nine West

*In other related news, we scored this dress at a crazy ridiculous price. Do you want to know? Of course you do. It was originally $300, marked down to $260, then further slashed down to 75 effing bucks. Then take another 10% off with my mom's Macy's card. $68, baby. Even the male clerk exclaimed over this.
