Big disclaimer: I'm wearing real fur below, so look away and do not read

Don't get me wrong, I understand the moral issue here. I never had a real firm stance on either side of this controversial issue, but if I had to pick, I always assumed I was probably a bit more politically correct. Until last November, when I had the opportunity to actually purchase a real fur at a very reasonable price. I was in Madrid, and this silky, soft rabbit vest was draped over a mannequin and beckoning out to me to touch. I struggled a little, but gave in to the dark side and snagged it. I'm glad I did because it's just so perfect for Chicago winters and days like today!
Of course, I can't wear it and not expect to get a few raised eyebrows, like from my 21-year old intern today.
"Jamie, is that real?" [eyebrows wiggling]
"You know, I'm not really judging you, but think of those poor bunnies."
Look, I totally get it. The thing is, the way I look at it, if you yourself are not completely vegan in all aspects of your life, then it's somewhat hypocritical for you to judge someone else. If you eat meat or wear leather, then how can you be critical of someone who wears fur? They're all wrong to an extent, right? I definitely eat meat all the time – including the occasional rabbit – wear leather sometimes, and yet I love my dog. But when I travel internationally, I like to do (and dress) as the Europeans and Russians do.
Oh, and Intern's response when I asked if he wears leather:
