OOTD: Black lace + feathers

No, of course I did not wear feathers and lace all Friday to work, but I did change into it for The Fella's department holiday party at the Affinia Hotel downtown yesterday evening. My "fancy" coat is definitely verging on the ridiculous, of a midnight blue-black crushed velvet and a trim of real ostrich feathers. I walked in, and The Fella says: "Wow. You look... fluffy." It reminds me either of an old-Hollywood glamour dressing gown that you should be wearing while stretched out on a chaise and smoking a cigarette, or something you'd don to a modern-day costume party along with maribou feather stilettos. I don't care. I love it. The label only says "Daniel & Rebecca", but a quick Google search didn't turn up much. I found it at a designer consignment shop in the Gold Coast over a year ago, and yes, in case you're wondering, I also eat ostrich meat so pffffffff.

But the point of this post is to not discuss how ridiculous I am, it is to talk about this gorgeous lace dress I found at H&M last October. I've been coveting an all-lace frock with long sleeves in the style of Audrey Hepburn since I saw the re-emergence of lace all over the spring runway shows. There was a classic white one at Akira last June, but it was priced at over a hundred bucks and missing the accompanying slip. Thanks, but no thanks. Then, in October, I saw this little black number with a fullish skirt at H&M on Michigan Ave., and was lucky enough to snag the last one in my size, not even bothering with the frenzy of the Lanvin for H&M collection that was soon to debut.

So I think we all learned a few things with these last few posts: 1) Jamie is ridiculous, 2) Jamie eats and sometimes wears animal, and 3) Jamie doesn't really care what people think.
